Summer in Malta is hot, dry and very sunny. However, hot temperatures do not have to be an issue, thanks to the cool seaside breeze. Spring and autumn weather in the Maltese Islands are quite similar. It is still very sunny but slightly cooler. At this time, the sirocco wind blows in from Africa, which raises temperatures as well as humidity. Occasional violent storms and downpours can happen in these months. However, they do not last longer than 1-3 days. Does it snow in Malta? Actually no, it doesn't! Malta is the only country in Europe where it does not know snow. The period, during which the Maltese winter should be, is characterized by short periods of coldness, which is mainly the result of north-eastern winds from Central Europe.

For those interested in swimming in Malta it will be important that the average sea water temperature in February and March is 16°C and these months are the coldest ones in this respect. In the warmest August, the numbers rise to as much as 27°C! For comparison, in the Baltic Sea, where the warmest summer months can be plagued by the phenomenon of upwelling, water can have an average of 13-15°C. Water sports fans will love Malta. 1. Dry and hot (July – October)
Summer in Malta is rainless, hot and clear. The weather is perfect for sunbathing, but can sometimes be too hot for a full day of sightseeing. During this period we swim, have fun and we enjoy the sun. It can happen that not a single drop of rain falls in August and September! They are the hottest months of the year. During this time, you can finish your Fitness Holiday training session by taking a bath in the sea. Unfortunately, accommodation prices often more than double during this period.
2. Alternating (December-March)
There is no typical winter in Malta. Autumn is humid and windy with numerous sunny days. The weather in Malta in December or January can be unpredictable. Warm and sunny days are mixed with showers and winds. Humidity of the air on cooler days can be strongly felt. Malta’s nature during this period, however, is the most beautiful. The weather in these months is very good for land sports enthusiasts. In addition, accommodation prices in Malta and flights fall drastically, making your stay on the Islands much cheaper.
3. Warm and sunny (March-May, November)
Spring in Malta is warm and sunny. It rains occasionally. There are gusty winds. March, April or May are a fantastic period for all outdoor activities. The season for strawberries (April) or oranges (November) begins, so do festivals of fireworks and street fiestas. Although it is not yet a bathing season, the weather is perfect for active holidays and exploring the Maltese Islands. You can even get some tan!
